Ethereal Eggs in Ride A Pet: Black Hole & Cherub

The top of the egg ladder is where the naming, the odds and the search results all get confusing. Two eggs, three things called 'Eternal', and a lot of videos promising locations that no source actually documents.

1. The two Ethereal eggs, and how far above the rest they sit

Black Hole Egg is documented at 100,000,000,000 luck and Cherub Egg at 1,000,000,000,000 luck. Both are Ethereal rarity — the top band, above Divine.

The gap is the story. The two Divine eggs below them are Aurora at 300,000,000 and Galaxy at 1,500,000,000. Black Hole is roughly 66 times harder than Galaxy, and Cherub is roughly 10 times harder again. Nothing else on the ladder jumps like that.

For comparison, the egg at the bottom of the ladder is White at 1 luck. Cherub is a trillion times that figure.

2. 'Eternal egg' is a community name for the Ethereal tier

If you searched for an Eternal egg, you are looking for these two. There is no egg named Eternal in the documented ladder — the word appears three other ways in the game and they are easy to conflate:

Eternal Radar — the $30M radar that tracks Ethereal eggs. Eternal mutation — the x100 speed mutation from storms. Ethereal — the rarity band, spelled with an 'h', that Black Hole and Cherub belong to.

So 'Eternal egg locations' and 'Ethereal egg locations' are the same search. The community ladder itself uses 'Ethereal', which is the spelling this site uses throughout.

3. Why no reliable location list exists

The most-viewed Ride A Pet videos on the internet promise Black Hole and Cherub spawn locations. We do not publish one, and the reason is not laziness — the community source that documents the map names zone landmarks (Spawn Area, Mutation Ranch, Wood Egg Stand, Oasis Market, Sandstorm Ridge, Aquatic Egg Basin and others) but never maps a single egg to a zone.

A video title is not a coordinate. Without a primary source tying an egg to a zone, any list is a guess dressed as data, and this site does not publish guesses — the sources page explains the rule.

There is also a mechanical reason to doubt per-egg fixed spawns: eggs reset on roughly an 8-minute cycle and the in-game Index reports how many of each egg are currently spawned, which implies spawning is dynamic rather than a fixed set of nodes.

4. The method that actually works

Eternal Radar ($30M) is the only radar that tracks Ethereal eggs — Advanced, Jewel, Royal, Magic and Angelic cover Rare through Divine and will never highlight these two. Radars cannot be switched off once bought, and Auto-Buy restocks them automatically.

Speed is the hard requirement. The spawn window is roughly 20 seconds. Without a fast mount you cannot cross the map in time regardless of how good your radar is — this is the point at which the pet ladder becomes an egg-hunting tool rather than a vanity stat.

The Index is your targeting system. Check what is currently spawned before committing to a sweep, and stay in the session so you catch the roughly 8-minute cycle repeatedly.

A detailed version of this routine is in the egg locations guide.

5. What is reportedly inside them

Community guides report that Cherub is where a guaranteed Kitsune becomes realistic once your luck multiplier is high enough. Treat that as a community claim rather than an official drop table — the developer publishes no egg contents list.

For scale, Kitsune itself is documented at 1 in 1Qi hatch odds with 1 billion speed and 170 jump, while Dragon is 1 in 5Qi with 300 million income. Those are the pets the top of the ladder serves.

Both are compared properly in the endgame pets guide.

6. Realistic expectations

At 100 billion and 1 trillion luck, these are not eggs you find on your first sweep. The useful question is not 'where' but 'can I reach it in 20 seconds and can I see it' — one is a speed problem, the other a radar purchase.

If the answer to either is no, the productive work is below this tier: bank money, buy the radar in band order, and raise your speed pet. The upgrade order guide sequences that.

The odds maths — expected attempts, and how many hatches a 50% or 90% chance actually takes — is worked through in the luck guide.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Ethereal eggs in Ride A Pet?

There are two: the Black Hole Egg at 100,000,000,000 luck and the Cherub Egg at 1,000,000,000,000 luck. They are the only eggs in the Ethereal rarity band, which is the top of the documented ladder.

Is there an Eternal Egg in Ride A Pet?

No egg in the documented ladder is named Eternal. Searches for 'Eternal egg' refer to the two Ethereal eggs. Eternal is the name of the $30M radar that tracks Ethereal eggs and of the x100 speed mutation from storms.

Which radar finds Ethereal eggs in Ride A Pet?

Only the Eternal Radar, at $30M. It is the sixth and final radar tier — Advanced, Jewel, Royal, Magic and Angelic track Rare through Divine, so none of them will highlight a Black Hole or Cherub egg.
