Fastest Pets in Ride A Pet by Speed
Speed is the stat that decides how many egg spawns you can reach, so it is the stat that decides your progression rate. This is the full ladder by documented base speed, not by hatch rarity.

1. The speed ladder from endgame to starter
Kitsune leads at 1 billion base speed with 170 jump — the joint-highest jump in the game. Dragon is second at 300 million speed and Cerberus third at 100 million. Those three are the endgame tier and each is a step change: Cerberus is roughly 100 times Phoenix's speed.
Below them, Phoenix at 1 million is the first pet to break a million, TRex sits at 266,000 and Unicorn at 137,000. That Unicorn-to-TRex-to-Phoenix run is where the numbers stop feeling like normal upgrades.
Every value here is the community-verified base stat, cross-checked between the Fandom table and a video guide that publishes the same figures.
2. The mid-game knee: Fox at 19,500
Fox (1 in 21M, 19,500 speed, 1,200 income) is where the game starts feeling genuinely fast. Before it, Ostrich (6,960), Lion (6,520), Shark (6,100), Wolf (5,710) and Horse (5,340) are all incremental steps clustered in the same range.
Cheetah (38,400), Giraffe (27,400), Unicorn (137,000), TRex (266,000) and Phoenix (1,000,000) form the late-game run above Fox.
Note that Giraffe is rarer than Cheetah (1 in 300M versus 1 in 7B) but slower — 27,400 against 38,400. Direction of travel down the ladder is not guaranteed, which is why the full table matters more than a summary.
3. Where the speed ladder is misleading
Spider is the trap. It hatches at 1 in 25,000 with only 3,690 speed, so it looks like a skip — but it has 129 base jump, which beats Cheetah (117), Lion (120), Horse (108) and even Shark (114). If you are struggling with terrain rather than distance, Spider is a real mobility pick for its point in the game.
Never rank a pet by its hatch chance. Rarity tells you how hard something is to hatch, not how good it is.
The tier list ranks every one of the 30 documented pets by speed, income and jump separately, so you can sort for the stat you are actually short of.
4. How you actually get the pets on this ladder
Nothing above is a shop purchase. Pets come from eggs you find spawned around the map, which are free to grab but expire in roughly 20 seconds, on about an 8-minute cycle.
That makes the ladder self-referential: you need speed to reach the eggs that contain speed. Radars are the escape hatch — each radar tracks one egg rarity tier and highlights it on screen, from Advanced at $50 (Rare) to Eternal at $30M (Ethereal).
The egg locations guide covers the spawn mechanic, and the luck guide covers the odds maths behind how long a given pet actually takes.
5. Multiply it with mutations
Mutations multiply the speed of the pet you ride, and they come from weather storms rather than purchases. Shocked is x2, Volted x3, Rage x4, Void x10 and Eternal x100. An Eternal mutation turns any pet into a different animal entirely.
A pet can only hold one mutation, and a stronger mutation replaces a weaker one — so mutate only pets you intend to keep, ideally Fox or above. Full table on the mutations page, and you can model any combination in the speed calculator.
Worth knowing before you invest: mutations multiply speed, not income. If your problem is cash rather than distance, a mutation does not fix it — the money guide covers that separately.
Frequently asked questions
What is the fastest pet in Ride A Pet?
Kitsune, at 1 billion base speed with 170 jump. Dragon is second at 300 million and Cerberus third at 100 million — all three are Ethereal rarity and all three hatch at odds that make deliberate hunting unrealistic.
Is the rarest pet always the fastest in Ride A Pet?
No. Giraffe is 1 in 300M and does 27,400 speed, while Cheetah is 1 in 7B and does 38,400. Rarity describes how hard a pet is to hatch, not how good it is — always check the speed column.
How much faster is a mutated pet in Ride A Pet?
Mutations multiply the ridden pet's speed: Shocked x2, Volted x3, Rage x4, Void x10 and Eternal x100. A single Eternal on a mid-game pet moves it past much rarer unmutated pets.
